What was seemingly an audition for the position of a “regular mom” turned out to be an audition for the position of a lifetime for Hong Huifang.
It was reported in February that the native veteran actress had been solid within the Singapore-South Korea movie Ajoomma (produced by Anthony Chen) together with Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha actor Kang Hyung-suk.
Huifang instructed Lianhe Zaobao on April 6 that she had no concept how massive the position was till after she received the script.
“Once I received the script, I was dumbfounded and stunned as a result of 80 per cent of the script was round [my character] and 80 per cent of the scenes have been filmed in South Korea. I used to be actually flattered in the mean time,” stated the 61-year-old.
She added: “Having the ability to act on this movie means I’ve no extra regrets in life, actually. I’ve been on this enterprise for nearly 40 years and it isn’t been in useless.”
Huifang flew to South Korea on the finish of December for the shoot and returned to Singapore after two months.
The actress discovered the filming expertise in South Korea to be refreshing and stuffed with surprises.
She shared: “The benefit of working there may be that you do not have to consider different issues… You simply consider working, resting and consuming. I like this type of ambiance whereas filming — I am not distracted.”
Huifang even opted to remain among the many locals with the director and crew as an alternative of staying in a resort. She was staying within the Hongdae neighbourhood of Seoul and would take the bus or discover the streets on foot when she wasn’t filming.

Regardless of filming in South Korea, Huifang confessed that she initially wasn’t a fan of Okay-dramas and solely received into it after watching the hit collection Crash Touchdown on You.
“As soon as I begin binge-watching, I can forego sleep for 4 or 5 days. If I’ve to movie at 7am the subsequent day, I can watch till 6am, after which go straight to filming,” she stated.
