4 years after Jerry Lewis‘ demise, the comic has been accused of sexual assault and harassment by a number of of his former feminine costars.
In a brand new quick documentary from Vanity Fair, along with Allen v. Farrow administrators Amy Ziering and Kirby Dick, actresses Karen Sharpe and Hope Vacation, amongst others, recall alleged incidents involving the late Lewis. Sharpe, now 87, starred in 1964’s The Disorderly Orderly alongside Lewis and says that at one level throughout filming he summoned her to his workplace, the place he “began shifting in on” her: “He grabbed me. He started to fondle me. He unzipped his pants. Fairly frankly, I used to be dumbstruck.”
The actress recalls putting up her hand and telling him, ” ‘I do not know if this can be a requirement in your main girls, however that is one thing I do not do’ ” — a response that she says made the actor and comic “livid.”

Within the case of Vacation, now 91, she says she feared that her scenes can be minimize solely from 1961’s The Women Man in retribution after Lewis allegedly sexually harassed her on set.
“The primary day we had been working, he stated, ‘Are you able to come to the dressing room afterward? I wish to talk about what we will shoot tomorrow,’ ” Vacation says. “I sit down and he presses a button, locks me within the dressing room with him. Then he begins to speak to me: ‘Y’know, you might be very engaging however you put on pants on a regular basis. I’ve by no means seen you in a skirt. You could have good legs and you have good boobs.’ Then he begins to speak to me about intercourse.”

She alleges that Lewis then began to masturbate in front of her, including, “I used to be frightened … I simply sat there and I wished to depart so badly.”
On why she did not report Lewis’ alleged actions to the Display Actors Guild on the time, Taylor says, “He was very massive at Paramount. I used to be beneath contract to him and to Paramount, and I did not wish to shake the boat. Y’know, I figured I will simply preserve my mouth shut.”
Renée Taylor, Lewis’ costar in 1961’s The Errand Boy, says she was the topic of “gross” feedback from executives, not Lewis, after she was solid within the movie.
“They stated, ‘Effectively, how massive is your p—y? Jerry has a salami and can apply it to a woman,’ ” she alleges. “They thought it was very humorous and had been boasting. I believed it was so gross. It was exhausting to snort at Jerry’s jokes after that.”

The documentary’s accompanying feature from Vanity Fair consists of interviews with a number of extra ladies, together with Anna Maria Alberghetti, Lainie Kazan, Jill St. John and Connie Stevens — the final of whom says she was “the one actress at [Lewis’] funeral.”
“I had heard that he was fairly tough on females,” she says. “He wasn’t on me.”
In Kazan’s case, she alleges that Lewis urged getting her “nostril mounted” and shedding pounds.
“He actually got here on to me, however he [also] wished me to really feel like gravel,” she provides. “He wished me to really feel lower than.”
